Wood and Cotter Appointed to Board of Trustees

 

BUFFALO, N.Y. --The Pinnacle Charter School Board of Trustees announced today the appointment of two new members to its Board.  Dr. Kathy Wood and Ms. Sarah Cotter will serve as board members, effective immediately, and will serve to the completion of the term on July 30, 2012. "We have such a highly-educated and well-rounded Board of Trustees.  Dr. Wood and Ms. Cotter will be a wonderful addition; each brings a unique expertise in both education and management to the table," says Linda Marszalek, Chief Academic Officer at Pinnacle.  The Board of Trustees is led by Dr. Fenice Boyd, who has served as Board President since September 2011. 

 

Dr. Kathy Wood has 30 years of experience in education.  She is currently the Associate Dean of the School of Education at Buffalo State College.  She served as the Interim Associate Dean for the School of Education beginning in Summer 2010 and was named Associate Dean in Fall 2011.  Prior to her appointment as Associate Dean, she was employed by Buffalo State College also as an Associate Professor of Elementary Education and Reading and as an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education before that. Additionally, Dr. Wood has taught at Niagara University and in Buffalo Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher.  Her areas of specialization include Urban Education, Teacher Education, and Elementary Education.  She received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration and her Masters of Education in Educational Administration, both from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  Dr. Wood also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Howard University in Washington, DC.  Dr. Wood resides in Clarence, NY.

 

Ms. Sarah Cotter is the Director of Ambulatory Health Information Technology at Catholic Health Systems Independent Physicians' Association, Inc. (CIPA WNY IPA) in Buffalo, NY.  Prior to this, she was the Project Coordinator in the Quality Improvement division of Scripps Clinic in San Diego,CA and a Public Health Specialist for CIPA WNY IPA.  Ms. Cotter received her Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Health Services from Boston University School of Public Health in Boston, MA.  She also holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Health Studies from Boston University.  Ms. Cotter resides in Buffalo, NY.
