Cross-Country Cyclist Visits Pinnacle Charter School
September 16th, 2011
BUFFALO, NY - Chris Figreida, a cyclist who is making his way across the country to raise awareness for the American Heart Association, visited students at Pinnacle Charter School on Friday, September 16 to speak about his adventures as a cyclist and professional athlete and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.According to his “Circle for Heart” website (cycleforheart.org), Figreida cycles across country to make people aware that they can make a difference – starting with themselves and healthy habits. Figreida’s carpe diem attitude has taken him around the world from riding elephants in Thailand, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, watching the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, and canyoneering slot canyons in Zion National Park in Utah. The American Heart Association states that childhood obesity is a growing problem, especially amongst inner-city children. It is a combined goal of the AHA and Figreida to educate this segment of the population on nutrition and active lifestyles.
