Evolution of Pinnacle
How we have reached where we are today!
Have you ever thought, "Wouldn't it be great to start a new school?" An educational team began with just that thought: to offer another "choice" of educational opportunity for the Western New York Region. The team sat down at the table one day discussing current educational issues surrounding local school districts.
Founders in the design team brought years of classroom experience in Elementary, Middle and Secondary Education. These educators were able to identify the best practices necessary to exceed New York State Learning Standards as well as those poor practices that seem to be increasing the achievement gap in urban settings.
When the team was extended with James Notaro and Judith Schiffert, additional business and research expertise led to the development of the highly-regarded NYSED Charter School Application. It took two years of brainstorming, discussion, research and writing to identify the strengths of the soon-to-be school.
After several years of researching the concept behind Charter Schools (a wonderful addition to the public/ private districts in Buffalo) the New York State Board of Regents approved the Pinnacle Charter School in January 2003.
The result of years of work and dedication of many other professionals in the education field as well as community leaders developed The Pinnacle Charter School. Pinnacle, is a charter school developed by a "grass roots" team. The idea was that of maximizing the time we have with our students as well using it effectively. The Pinnacle Charter School will be offering another option for parents of K-3rd grade children in the first year of operation September 2003. We will be extending in later years to ultimately offer K-8. The team of Founders and Board of Trustees are anxiously awaiting its opening.
This just goes to show that ideas if pursued can develop into a wonderful reality.
